Welcome to Hayling Island…the land of extreme tides and much breeze. Although, I am starting to think that learning to drive on the left side of the road is going to prove to be our biggest learning curve.  We arrived yesterday after no sleep through the night but Scott, as usual, sucked it up and still went out sailing while I, as usual, chatted with old friends and sort of got my boat together. 

Today is registration and a practice sail with the breeze forecast to be in the upper 20’s. Scott will definitely sail while I might opt to drag my feet a bit longer and chat a bit more. Weather is London foggish…overcast and a bit chilly but we brought the right gear …perfect day to cozy up by the fire with a book but hey, why would we do that!

Ok here we go again! Off to Laser Master Worlds #4 and part of the preparation is a 14 mile downwind run in a 25-30 knot South Westerly breeze. When we all pulled up to the beach I looked at Scott and said, 'Wow... looks just like Forteleza!' In 2005 we sailed the Master Worlds in Forteleza, Brazil where it blew 25-30 everyday.

Scott and Peter Shope have certainly put their time in this summer in preparation for the Laser Master Worlds while I, on the other hand, had great intentions but just found way too many other things to take up my time and now with one week until the event and only 9 days in the Laser in the last year, I will be reporting on what it's like to be completely unprepared!
